The Chief Executive Officer advised that arrangements had been made for representatives of the SMRC to attend Council’s Meeting on 7 April 2009 to present the 2008/09 SMRC Budget Review and indicative Budget for 2009/10, and the SMRC Odour Plan. Elected members will also be able to view the You Tube videos of the SMRC tour conducted to visit areas where residents had complained of odour emissions from the RRRC.
Mayor Ferris advised that green waste collected in verge side pickups was no longer being taken to the RRRC in an effort to ascertain whether this waste is causing the odour problem.
The CEO read an email from Mandy Clarke (who had submitted several questions to the last Council meeting, which had received both verbal and written responses) dated 11 March 2009 which outlined a sequence of events which reportedly culminated in her admission to a hospital emergency department due to Ms Clarke’s alleged reaction to odour allegedly emanating from the RRRC. The email had also been forwarded to the Premier, a number of State Government Ministers, a number of other Members of Parliament (13 in all), an Australian Greens Senator, CEOs and other officers of a number of Government departments (7 in all), 36 elected members, 2 local government CEOs and 5 media outlets.
