4.8 South Metropolitan Regional Council (SMRC)

Letters have been sent to the Southern Metropolitan Regional Council (SMRC) notifying them of the City’s withdrawal as of the 30 June 2012. The letters cover all agreements between the City of Rockingham and the SMRC.
4.9 Recyclables Tender

The current collection contract with Transpacific Cleanaway expires on the 27 August 2011. The current processing tender is still current with the SMRC until 30 June 2012. The City will go to tender for both the collection and processing in the next fortnight. The new tender will be for a period of five years. Noted in the tender will be if the SRMC recycling processing plant is operational prior to expiry of the contract, than all recycled material will be processed at the SMRC until the end of the contract.
The City is planning the following schedule for both the collection and processing tenders:
- Advertise 25 June 2011
- Close 27 July 2011
- Report to Council 23 August 2011
- Commencement 15 January 2012
