8. QUESTION TIME

Mr R Olsen, Riverton

Question 1: In yesterday’s West Australian Public Notices, a Notice from the Department of Environment confirmed that the Southern Metropolitan Regional Council Waste Composting Facility Licence had been re-issued – did the Council put in any Submission to the DEC in regards to that application for renewal?

Answer: Chief Executive Officer. Yes, the Council did and that submission was considered by the appropriate authority, they have moved to advertise the renewal and the City will look at a Submission appealing that decision they have taken today.

Question 2: If the City is going to appeal, Council will put in an objection to the renewal?

Answer: Chief Executive Officer. That is the City’s intention.

7. DECLARATION OF MEMBERS’ AND OFFICERS’ INTERESTS

Declaration of Interest

Cr Elliott   PD-409-11 – Odour Register – Regional Resource Recovery Centre – Canning Vale

Nature of Interest: My daughter lives in the area affected by the odour.

Cr Elliott sought a ruling on his interest on the above item of business on the grounds that his daughter lives in the area affected by the odour. Cr Elliott withdrew from the Council Chambers at 6.16pm.

MOVED Cr Mason, Seconded Cr Barry, that the interest declared by Cr Elliott in item PD-409-11 – Odour Register – Regional Resource Recovery Centre – Canning is common to a significant number of electors or ratepayers.
