City of Canning Minutes – SMRC RRRC WCF Odour Issue – 22 November 2011

9. TABLING OF MAYORAL MINUTES WITHOUT DISCUSSION

Monday 21 November 2011 – have attended to the Canning Art Centre User Group Committee meeting held at the Riverton Art Centre. The Group have submitted to Council the Business Plan for 2011. They are in a reasonable financial position and are waiting to receive the Auditor’s report from our staff by the end of November 2011.

In the evening, myself, the Chief Executive Officer and Councillors Bev Olsen, Stuart Clarke, Graham Barry and Robert Morgan attended the Riverton Rossmoyne Residents Association AGM held at the Rossmoyne Hall; approximately 20 people were in attendance. Dr Mike Nahan Member for Riverton was the guest speaker for the evening giving an update of the government legislation. Amongst many issues one that was very interesting in praising the decision the City made in resigning from the SMRC in June 2010 due to the inaptitude of the management for not being able to control the odour from the composting plant. Also, the Fiona Stanley and the Saint John of God Hospital when it opens to business the numbers of patients going through these two health centres will be approximately 350,000 which will equate to 994 patients a day per year.

During this above dates, I have also attended to several meetings with Ratepayers, Executives, and other Council Business covered under section 2.8 of the Local Government Act 1995.
