CMCOAG Lobbying for Independant Blood Testing and Air Sampling

===============================================

Hi there

Lobbying for Independant Blood Testing and Air Sampling
——————————————–

CMCOAG is lobbying for funding for independant blood testing and air sampling to be carried out at the request of residents. Residents are eager to use the Bucket Brigade method so air samples can be assessed in the United States via a facility which is far more efficient, thorough and can test for more a considerable amount more compounds than here in Western Australia – and testing is carried out to a much higher standard.

Residents are fed up with suffering the same distressing symptoms when they experience the odour and feel that independant blood testing is not only necessary but is their only option to figure out why they feel so ill when they are afflicted by the odour.

We are calling on businesses and residents who are affected by the noxious odour being emitted by the RRRC Waste Composting Facility to participate. Contact the www.CMCOAG.com

RRRC Waste Composting Facility Fire Update
———————————-

According to the Canning Council minutes the RRRC Waste Composting Facility operating at 75% capacity.

Residents are concerned about the costs of the fire and whether or not more funds – on top of the $2.4 million of this $70 million dollar facility – would be requested for maintenance or repairs (via our rates).

Quote from Canning Council Minutes:

http://www.canning.wa.gov.au/Shared/Meetings/Minutes12February2008.htm

“At this time, the cost for repairs is unknown. The SMRC is currently seeking quotations for the repair works which will then be submitted to the Insurers.”

“The SMRC’s Insurers are undertaking an investigation into the cause of the fire and are assessing the claim. The results of their investigation are not yet known.”

Reporting the Odour to the City of Canning
—————————————–

As you know the City of Canning (and all 7 councils financially supporting RRRC Waste Composting Facility) receive a copy of the online odour logs.

With many residents being annoyed at the City of Canning in regards to the odour from the RRRC Waste Composting Facility residents were wondering (and have been for quite a while now) if they could call the City of Canning’s Health Officers.

Hopefully this will answer your questions:

Quote from Canning Council Minutes:

http://www.canning.wa.gov.au/Shared/Meetings/Minutes12February2008.htm

“The (City of Canning) Environmental Health Officers do not attend callouts related to odours from the SMRC Regional Resource Recovery Centre.”

“The SMRC Regional Resource Recovery Centre has an Environmental Protection Act License condition related to odour. The City’s Environmental Health Officers’ authorisation under the Environmental Protection Act does not allow the exercise of any powers in relation to premises licensed under that Act. The administration of compliance with license conditions under the Act is the responsibility of the Department of Environment and Conservation, and as such, residents should contact the DEC if they feel there is an odour emission that does not comply with the license conditions.” WOW – Phone and Odour Logs – AWESOME JOB…
————————————-

Residents have done an awesome job of phoning in the odour.

PLEASE – KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

Every single odour log counts.

Don’t let DEC use a reduction in calls and online odour logs as an excuse for not being able to do anything about this noxious odour that’s afflicting us.

It appears there’s a heck of lot more folk calling to report the odour than we thought. With one lady stating that she’d been calling nearly every day.

Please, when you phone the odour don’t forget to log it online as well.

If you haven’t phoned or written in an odour report – yet still experience the odour -please ensure you have your say.

a. ALWAYS put your odour experiences in writing via the online odour log:
http://www.cmcoag.com/odour-log.htm

b. And at any time, 24 hours per day, that you are exposed too, or encounter the odour, please call the… EMERGENCY POLLUTION RESPONSE Numbers below:

Day Time – 6364 6501
After Hours – 1300 784 782

If you’re calling after hours please select “option 1″ for emergencies when it says “for an emergency please press 1″. State that it’s urgent.

An operator will speak with you, log your call and immediately pass it onto the on-call DEC officer.

Thanks so much…

Kind regards
CMCOAG
